When Changing, Do Not Oppress

Bismillah

When you decide to do good, do not look for others to accompany you.

Just do it for yourself and trust in Allah.

The guidance will come to the others in good time.

It is the most basic of every one's right to stand by what they believe and to make their own choices in life.

So now that you are ready for a change and you are pursuing it with all your might, do not think to impose it on others. Strive to change yourself and biidhniAllah, Allah will bring about the changes in others that He brought out in you, all in His good time and when it is most beneficial to them.

Allah is clear that none of us can guide, only He can.

Chapter (2) sūrat l-baqarah (The Cow)

Sahih International: Not upon you, [O Muhammad], is [responsibility for] their guidance, but Allah guides whom He wills. And whatever good you [believers] spend is for yourselves, and you do not spend except seeking the countenance of Allah. And whatever you spend of good - it will be fully repaid to you, and you will not be wronged.

We at most can be warners and bearers of good news, basically messengers of the good news of Allah, the Quran, the Sunnah, the khuluq of our prophet, etc.

Our changes for the better is the very message and is the very guidance possibly, that Allah will bring to those around us. But we may negate the guidance by trying to force our families and friends to also see things our way or to change just because we say so...

When we have committed to make a change, lets focus internally. Change your heart and change your body and change your words and actions and intentions. Purify and change yourself (and make dua for them) and when you have changed yourself enough, they will automatically follow if Allah so wills.

Alhamdulillah for the Mercy of Allah. He wants us to only work on ourselves and He will then use us (and or our surroundings) to change others if He so wills. We are responsible for only ourselves, yet if we do a good enough job in improving ourselves, enough for Allah to use us an example, a light of guidance for others, then He will reward us for the changes those others make using our example or light!

Allah is Merciful. Alhamdulillah!
